SWASHHOUSE™ vs. SWASHDUST-REPEL™: Which Option Is Right For You?

Posted by FarmLab Innovations on Jun 11, 2019

Both SWASHDUST-REPEL and SWASHHOUSE are products designed to make sanitation routines more effective, efficient, and eco-friendly in poultry and swine facilities.

Since both products save both time and water as you wash fans, nest boxes, breeder ramps, farrowing rooms, nurseries and related equipment, the two can be mistaken to serve the same purpose — however, each individual product offers distinct benefits depending on your needs and goals.

Who are these products for?

Both products can benefit pullet growers, layer and breeder operations as well as broiler operations. They can also be applied in swine facilities.

When should I use SWASHDUST-REPEL™?

SWASHDUST-REPEL is best used for dry organic matter such as dust or dust build up created from litter and waste, which can put an unwanted strain on your facility’s ventilation equipment as well as harbor bacteria.

For instance, if you’re frustrated with dust buildup on fans in poultry houses, or you’re in need of one product that could treat an entire breeder and broiler house interior (including water lines, feed lines, tunnel doors, SWASHDUST-REPEL would be the ideal option to resolve these issues.

It would also be the suggested product to utilize when treating fans inside breeding and gestation barns on swine farms.

When should I use SWASHHOUSE™?

SWASHHOUSE can be used to seal porous surfaces and boost sanitation levels as part of your cleaning regimen in both poultry houses and swine facilities. It is best used for cleaning moist organic matter.

For example, if you’ve been seeking a product that could hinder the development of organic matter in farrowing rooms, SWASHHOUSE is more likely to solve the problem. But this product also offers benefits for poultry houses — in particular, to treat nest box ramps and breeder ramps. It can also be used in hatcheries to enhance removal of chick down in hatch rooms and enhance the cleaning and drying of hatch trays.

How do these products work?

Both SWASHDUST-REPEL and SWASHHOUSE can be applied to any hard CLEAN surface, (including metal, wood, plastic, or corroded surfaces). The products work by sealing off the porous nature of these surfaces, inhibiting the ability of organic matter to adhere to the surface.

You can expect treating fans to take about 15-20 seconds per fan, inside and out. In farrowing rooms, it will take approximately 10 minutes total per room, assuming the room contains 24 crates.

You do not need to obtain any sort of special license or machinery in order to apply the product. You can simply use a pesticide sprayer on the back of an ATV. A garden sprayer or a power washer would also work with our dilution valve.

The shield enacted by either SWASHDUST-REPEL and SWASHHOUSE will remain in contact with the surface until high-pressure water is used to remove it, along with the soil attached to it. These products can reduce your cleaning time and your water usage by up to 50%.
