What is SWASHCOOL-CELL™?
SWASHCOOL-CELL™ is a liquid solution that controls the water quality, reduces build-up, and improves airflow in evaporative cooling systems.
How is SWASHCOOL-CELL™ used, and how much does it cost?
This liquid solution comes in 5-gallon pails. The cost is $20 per gallon or $100 per pail. This upfront cost may seem high when compared to other cool cell cleaners on the market — but that is because unlike those products, SWASHCOOL-CELL™ is a strong enough sequestering agent that it can dissolve hard water deposits, thus helping cooling systems maintain a lower pH level for a much longer period of time.
How does SWASHCOOL-CELL™ actually work?
Our team at FarmLab Innovations has spent months analyzing well water samples used in cool cells at a variety of farms. We were surprised to find that the majority of these wells produce water with a pH level in the upper 7’s — in fact, a number of those farms reported well water with pH higher than 8, even approaching a pH of 9.
The FarmLab Innovations team can say with scientific certainty that 1 quart (the recommended dosage of some recognized cool cell cleaners on the market) of even the strongest acid diluted into 100 gallons of well water with pH levels that high will not bring the well water down below a pH of 7.
Knowing this, our team decided to approach the cool cell problems in a different way, in an effort to solve the problems based on performance rather than cost.
SWASHCOOL-CELL™ has been formulated to bring the entire contents of the cool cell sump below a pH of 7 for at least some period of time. In some cases, this timeframe may only be a few days — but based on actual results, even that brief period of time is long enough for SWASHCOOL-CELL™ to begin working on hard water deposits.
That’s when the sequestrants in the SWASHCOOL-CELL™ formula can really begin to do their job.
The FarmLab Innovations team specifically selected the strongest, most effective sequestering agents we could find. These are relatively expensive raw materials compared to commodity acids. However, the benefit-cost ratio is well worth that added cost.
You see, sequestering agents keep water hardness deposits soluble even at a high pH — whereas those deposits would usually come out of solution and build up on the cool cell pads.
Beyond that, sequestering agents can slowly remove hard water deposits, even at a high pH. The process is much slower at that high pH level, yes, but the action still takes place.
As our team analyzed the sump water from treated systems, we found that the sequestering capacity is able to remain in the system for a much longer period of time than the capacity to maintain a low pH.
What does that actually mean? It means the life span of SWASHCOOL-CELL™ is better than we had originally thought at the beginning of these trials, back when we just focused on pH alone.
It also means that while the upfront cost of SWASHCOOL-CELL™ may appear to be high, once the cool cells are clean, this upfront cost is able to be spread over multiple grow outs, due to the SWASHCOOL-CELL™ capacity to keep hard water deposits dissolved in the water.
